Igor Simić appears at Biennale de Lyon

May 11th 2026

Igor Simić is among a group of 70 artists who will be participating at this year’s Biennale de Lyon. The Biennale, which is celebrating its 18th edition in 2026, is reputed to be one of the more outstanding events in the contemporary art world, with a tradition dating back to 1991, and is France’s premier artistic platform. Following in the wake of the Venice Biennale, the Biennale de Lyon expands on the themes and ideas set forth at the former, with contemporary works set in juxtaposition to historical artworks, archival materials and objects.

Simić’s work perfectly fits into to the theme of how artistic practices engage with economic life that Catherine Nichols, curator of this year’s edition, chose. Situating his moving image practice within the broader intersection of labor, economics, ecology and politics, Simić hones in on how the ideological and affective structures of capitalism leverage technological systems to shape perception and value. The 18th Biennale de Lyon opens on 19 September and last until 13 December. Igor Simić’s short films, which are distinguished by their highly polished and incisive style, are available for distribution through the Kinopravda Institute catalogue. “Kinaesthesia” premieres in UK and Irish cinemas

April 14th 2026

“Kinaesthesia”, a documentary film directed by Gerald Fox, premieres this Friday, April 17th at BFI Southbank and cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland. An exploration of the relationship between film and dreams, Kinaesthesia (the sensation of movement) is a lyrical documentary inspired by the film historian Vlada Petrić, which draws on an extensive archive to offer a journey through the history of dreams in early cinema. Encompassing French Impressionism, German Expressionism, Soviet Montage, the American Avant-garde and popular silent comedy, this is an illuminating and enjoyable cornucopia of delights that also acts as a love letter to cinema as a true art form. We are especially proud that the Kinopravda Institute has contributed to the film’s development and supported the project, making this moment particularly meaningful for us.

Gerald Fox is a filmmaker and artist who has received multiple awards for his films that explore the lives of the world’s leading contemporary artists. For a selection of his works that are available for distribution, please check our catalogue. All inquiries pertaining to film rentals and distribution should be directed to → [email protected]

Isidora Ilić talks of resistance to corruption at EMAF

April 3rd 2026

This year’s edition of the European Media Art Festival (EMAF), held under the name Incomplete Assembly, will – through a broad range of events that encompasses talks, exhibitions, film programs, performances and workshops lasting from April 22 to 26 – explore what discourses and narratives institutions enable and which ones they overlook, deliberately or otherwise.

Among the plethora of artists who are participating in EMAF 2026, Isidora Ilić of Doplgenger is going to hold a talk with guests that fits thematically into the overarching conceptual framework of the festival. Drawing on inspiration from her fellow artists, Isidora Ilić will share her insights on the anti-government demonstrations that have been unfolding in Serbia since November 2024 in response to rampant corruption and mismanagement.

Isidora Ilić is – together with Boško Prostran – part of the artist duo Doplgenger that, through a research-oriented approach, delves into the relation between art and politics, contemplating the regimes of moving images and their modes of perception. A full list of Doplgenger’s works can be accessed in our distribution catalogue. All inquiries pertaining to film rentals and distribution should be directed to → [email protected]

Igor Simić gives performance-lecture at Volksbuehne in Berlin

March 31st 2026

Igor Simić is holding a lecture at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, the iconic Berlin theater. The premise (and title!) of his lecture, Everything is Content, takes a provocative look at the impact that the ubiquity of platformized content has on our daily lives. Although this endless inundation of images, sounds, films and other media appears at first glance incoherent and ready to overwhelm the viewer, Simić does not succumb to nostalgia for a simpler past, opting instead to mould it into a film where they can all coexist at peace with each other.

Simić’s lecture opens on April 2 at 8:00 p.m. in the Roter Salon at the Volksbühne. Igor Simić’s short films, which are distinguished by their highly polished and incisive style, are available for distribution through the Kinopravda Institute catalogue. Igor Simić contemplates content at Anita Beckers Gallery

March 11th 2026

Igor Simić is presenting his latest visual works in an exhibition at the Anita Beckers Gallery this month. In Everything is Content, Simić examines the impact that technological advancement has had on contemporary image production and the conditions in which this phenomenon operates. The advent of the digital age set off a revolution in the visual arts world, collapsing narrative hierarchies as the boundary between the banal and the sacred became blurred.

In a set of paintings created in cobalt blue, oil, and candle soot, Simić subtly hints at the historical, technological, and geopolitical contexts that underlie the production of images. Through his choice of materials, Simić reveals how images, ideas and living beings have been transformed into exploitable content that is inscribed with sacrifice and the exploitation of nature. Fire is another element that features prominently in this series of works, linking them to the sacred through religious symbolism, martyrdom and faith. The exhibition Everything is Content opens on March 13 and lasts until April 18.

Igor Simić’s short films, which are distinguished by their highly polished and incisive style, are available for distribution through the Kinopravda Institute catalogue. All inquiries pertaining to film rentals and distribution should be directed to → [email protected]

February 20th 2026

The artistic duo Doplgenger (Isidora Ilić and Boško Prostran) has a selection of their works streamed as part of e-flux’s online program, General Relativity, Take Two, which considers the aesthetics and politics of artistic duos. How do two artists act in concert as one? What sort of subjects and materials lend themselves to this form of compound approach?

Doplgenger utilizes found footage to investigate and decipher the media codes on which societies are contingent and which can sometimes contribute to their collapse. Three of their works from the Fragments Untitled series are currently being streamed as part of e-flux’s program from 18 February to 3 March. The program has been curated by our artistic director, Greg de Cuir Jr.

Works by Doplgenger are available through our distribution service and can be viewed in our catalogue. For more information on distribution and rental, please forward your inquiries to → [email protected]
