*The name Kinopravda channels the spirit of the great cineaste Dziga Vertov, one of the truly iconic figures in the history of film, who was born Denis Kaufman in Bialystock in 1896 (present-day Poland, then part of the Russian Empire). “Kino-Pravda” is the name of the revolutionary newsreel series Vertov created in 1922.
