Seriesly Berlin – an annual festival dedicated to serial storytelling – ran its second edition from September 15 to 18 at Fotografiska Berlin. The event provides a platform for artists to engage in discussions about serial narrative formats, present pitches for new projects, and contemplate the future of storytelling in an era where the media sphere is oversaturated with content.
Among the keynote speakers attending the event, Igor Simić – a Serbian-American artist and filmmaker – held a thought-provoking keynote, titled Are We Content With “Content”? in which he assesses our place in an attention economy channeled by algorithmic practices.
Simić announced at the conference that he is making a new animated hybrid that combines the classic Disney animation Steamboat Willie and the 1928 feature film The Passion of Joan of Arc by Carl Theodor Dreyer. In this upcoming animated film, Simić will have Joan of Arc appear in a vision to Mickey Mouse. This animated short will be added to Kinopravda Institute’s roster of videos by Igor Simić available for distribution. Stay tuned for more news on this subject.
