“Kinaesthesia” premieres in UK and Irish cinemas

April 14th 2026

“Kinaesthesia”, a documentary film directed by Gerald Fox, premieres this Friday, April 17th at BFI Southbank and cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland. An exploration of the relationship between film and dreams, Kinaesthesia (the sensation of movement) is a lyrical documentary inspired by the film historian Vlada Petrić, which draws on an extensive archive to offer a journey through the history of dreams in early cinema. Encompassing French Impressionism, German Expressionism, Soviet Montage, the American Avant-garde and popular silent comedy, this is an illuminating and enjoyable cornucopia of delights that also acts as a love letter to cinema as a true art form. We are especially proud that the Kinopravda Institute has contributed to the film’s development and supported the project, making this moment particularly meaningful for us.
